Spicy Korean Chicken

Thank you to my friend Bon-Hwa for allowing me to share her family recipe with you.

Spicy Korean Chicken

4 chicken breasts (cubed)

1 finely sliced clove of garlic

1/2 cup of corn starch

2 beaten eggs

For the first part:

Season your chicken cubes with salt and pepper and dip it into egg batter before placing it into corn starch. Make sure the chicken is evenly coated.

In a saucepan add 4 tablespoons of olive oil and add garlic to the oil before adding chicken. Cook chicken for 3-5 mins and remove from pan.

For the second part:

In a bowl mix together:

2 tablespoons of brown sugar

2 tablespoons of honey

3 tablespoons of soy sauce

2 tablespoons of vinegar

1 teaspoon of Hoisin sauce

2 tablespoons of gujong sauce ( I bought this from Sun Sun Supermarket in Dbn North)

1 teaspoon of crushed garlic

1/2 teaspoon of crushed ginger

Whisk all these together to form a paste.

In the same pan that you friex the chicken in , add in some sesame seeds and about 2 mins after add the sauce and a minute later add the chicken and let it cook  together for about 5 mins. I added some cashew but you can add whatever you like.

Enjoy on it’s own or serve with rice or noodles.

Let me know what you think!
